The Tasmanian growth was made up of
- natural increase (more births than deaths) 1,606 persons
- net overseas migration (NOM) 1,395 persons
- net interstate migration (NIM) -1,460 persons
Net interstate migration was made up of 12,104 departures from the state (around the long term average of 12,136 persons per year) and 10,644 arrivals to the state (below the long term average of 11,344 persons per year).
In terms of the age profile of the population, for the year ended 30 June 2013, net losses were experienced for the following ages (due either to outward migration or death). Net gains were experienced for all other ages.
